Oct 28, 2012 · 2006 Sportsman 500 HO starter won't turn A few weeks ago my daughter very slowly rolled over my 2006 Sportsman 500 HO (she did not get hurt, it was a very slow roll). I did not witness but shortly thereafter the throttle went wide open and smoked like a banshee. My brother hit the kill switch and stopped the engine.

You should be able to take a small wire connected to your POSITIVE battery terminal and touch the small wire terminal from the starter on the solenoid and fire the starter up. Remember, there is also a 'engaged brake' override to the starter .. the RZR will not start without the 12V brake light signal, so make sure the brake lights are working.
